NUS Alumni Toastmasters Club
Some Basic Information
The Toastmasters movement was founded with the intention of helping people who do not have any public speaking experience or who suffer from stage-fright to overcome their fears and to develop their communication and leadership skills.
Hence we provide both formal and informal training, since our goals are primarily educational in nature. This is done through workshops during our monthly meetings, and through the various appointments taken up by toastmasters during these meetings. Every toastmaster also learns various public speaking skills through a formalised training program and manual, i.e. first 10 project speeches to achieve the Competant Toastmaster Title, and 13 Advanced Project speeches thereafter.
NUS Alumni Toastmasters Club charges a one-time registration fee of SGD 30.00 which goes to Toastmasters International in California, USA, and an annual fee of SGD 240.00. The annual fee pays for Classroom Facilities and dinner for monthly meetings, as well as training materials.
Guest fees (include simple dinner and refreshments) will be waived if you sign up as a member during our meeting. Membership is available at our regular meetings and are open to all graduates of NUS, NTU, NTI and SMU. Other graduates of overseas Universities, you are invited to apply as Associate members.
